The practice of snuff-taking originated in the Americas and was in common use in Europe by the 17th century. People of all social classes used snuff boxes when snuff was at its peak of popularity. Some of these boxes were elaborately made, rich in detail and made from precious materials such as gold, silver and ivory and were often decorated with artwork.
The Cash Manufacturing snuff box is the larger counterpart to the pill box produced by the same manufacturer. It is made from brass and features a friction-fit lid, which, unlike the smaller model, is not domed but flat. Although primarily designed to carry snuff, you can also use the box for storing small things such as a sewing kit, spare batteries, candy, etc.
