The best flashlight is the flashlight that you have on you when you need one. The Lumintop Ant is a small single AAA torch that can be easily attached to a keychain or kept covertly in your pocket for quick access. About the size of a lip balm tube, the body has diamond pattern knurling for a secure grip.
With a maximum output of 120 lumens, the high mode is bright enough to illuminate a path for walking. The maximum beam distance of 46 meters is quite impressive for a light of this size.
The user interface is pretty simple. Just repeatedly press the side button to cycle through low, medium and high. The strobe mode can be accessed by keeping the switch pressed for a few seconds when in low mode. The only downside is that after turning on the flashlight you have to go through a full cycle to turn it off again. You can give the head a little twist though and the light turns off. This also helps prevent the flashlight from accidentally turning on in your pocket.
The torch is well machined, the overall fit and finish is excellent. The stainless steel clip is strong and sturdy and not easily removed.
The Lumintop Ant comes in a cardboard box. Included are two spare o-rings and a split ring. Please note that the version sold by Amazon doesn’t have the tritium insert in the tail cap.
