Beekeeping has been practiced since the period of ancient civilizations in Egypt and Greece. One of the oldest hive designs is a simple upturned straw basket called a skep. Although skeps are no longer used to keep honey bees, the shape has become a fashion and design classic. Amy Winehouse will not only be remembered for her amazing soul voice but also for her iconic beehive hairstyle.
The design of this Maverick Workshop lanyard bead is inspired by a skep. Beautifully machined from solid brass, the bead will develop a natural patina over time. The hole can easily fit two strands of 550 paracord. I went for diamond-patterned paracord with two shades of blue. The bead is flanked on both sides with diamond knots.
