The brass handle scales of most Couperier Coursolle knives are decorated with motifs of rural life, hunting, sports, and maritime scenes. The model Venus is different, it features an erotic theme. In Roman mythology, Venus was the goddess of love, sex, beauty, and fertility. The Romans adapted the myths and iconography of her Greek counterpart Aphrodite for Roman art and Latin literature.

Both handle scales show depictions of a female nude. Like all motif knives by Couperier Coursolle, the imagery is in low relief. The depiction on the front scale may have been inspired by the famous motif of Aphrodite rising from the sea. The back scale features a naked woman playing the aulos, an ancient Greek wind instrument.

With a total length of 14.5 centimeters and a weight of only 38 grams, this Coursolle knife is a lightweight companion to your larger EDC knife.
