Kaweco – Sketch Up 5.6 Clutch Pencil

The Kaweco Sketch Up 5.6 Brass is a clutch pencil with push button mechanism. Each time the button is pressed,  the four jaws of the clutch system are released and allow the lead to fall through. The pencil takes 5.6 mm leads, one 5B lead is included. While 5.6 mm is not the most common size, Kaweco has you covered with several color options. The built-in sharpener in the push button allows you to keep the point as sharp as desired.

The Sketch Up 5.6 features an octagonal barrel. Coming in at 42 grams, the pencil has a substantial heft to it without being excessively heavy. The weight is well-balanced and creates a comfortable drawing experience. I’m not an artist but I like to doodle and sketch with this pencil.

The pencil is solidly made and will last a lifetime. Like any piece of brass, the Sketch Up 5.6 picks up your skin’s oils and develops a patina. The patina on mine has developed beautifully so far.
