Spinning tops are timeless toys. As a matter of fact, they have been around since antiquity. Did you know that the spinning top was one of the earliest toy patents granted by the United States Patent Office?

Designed and made in the UK, the Vorso Mk1 is available in three different materials, each with two different surface finishes. It comes in a nice round tin box with an eco-friendly wood wool filling. I decided to go with the machine-finished brass version because I prefer the look of raw brass over a mirror polish finish. The body and the knurled grip are precision machined out of solid brass, the stem is aluminum. The contact point is a durable ceramic bearing ball. Alternatively, you can opt for a ruby contact point. All parts are press-fitted together.

The maximum achievable spin time of the Mk1 depends on your technique, experience and surface you spin it on. I usually get around five minutes on a wooden base. The Mk1 spinning top is not only a great relaxation tool but also a beautiful desk accessory you can showcase in your office.
